A journey is more than a list of places. It is a sequence — the right pace, the right order, the right amount of time in each place to let it settle. We design itineraries that move the way good travel should: unhurried, purposeful, and open to the unexpected.
Each journey below is a starting point for a conversation, not a fixed itinerary. Every route, pace, and detail is shaped around you — your interests, your travel style, and what you want to take home from it.
A note on timing: While we happily arrange shorter trips, we generally recommend 9 to 16 days to make the most of travel in Europe — unless you are staying in a single city or focusing on a small geography. The journey to get there deserves a proper return on your time.
Begin in Florence, move south through the Val d'Orcia, cross into Umbria through Orvieto, and end in Perugia. This is a journey through the Italy that exists between the famous cities — the farmhouses, the hill towns, the wine roads, the long lunches that become the whole afternoon.
Puglia is the Italy that rewards those who make the effort to get there. Begin in Bari, move south through the trulli of Alberobello, the white city of Ostuni, and the baroque grandeur of Lecce — the Florence of the south. End on the Salento peninsula, where the Adriatic and the Ionian meet and the light turns everything gold. Agriturismos, masserie, and a cuisine built on olive oil, burrata, and the sea.
Italy's most delicious region is also one of its least visited. Begin in Bologna — the arcaded city that feeds the country — and move through Modena for the balsamic vinegar and the Ferrari museum, Parma for the prosciutto and the Baptistery, and Ferrara for the Renaissance city that time has barely touched. End in Ravenna, where the Byzantine mosaics are among the greatest works of art in Europe.
Drive the western coast from Connemara north through County Mayo and Sligo to Donegal. This is Ireland at its most elemental — the light, the landscape, the Atlantic pressing in from the west. Castle hotels, remote headlands, and the particular warmth of a country that has not yet forgotten how to welcome a stranger.
Munich is the beginning, not the destination. From the city, move south through the Tegernsee valley, into the Allgäu, and up toward the Austrian border. Ancient breweries, alpine villages, and a landscape that rewards the traveler who leaves the main road.
Few regions carry as much history as Normandy — the D-Day beaches, the Bayeux tapestry, the abbey on the rock at Mont Saint-Michel. But there is another Normandy too: the apple orchards, the half-timbered market towns, the painters' light at Giverny, and the medieval grandeur of Rouen. A region that rewards those who stay long enough to find it.
Begin in Venice, move north into the Dolomites, and spend several days in the mountains before returning south through Verona. The contrast between the city and the high alpine landscape is part of the point — each makes the other more vivid.
Begin in Cork — Ireland's second city and its most food-obsessed — then drop south to Kinsale, the prettiest harbour town in the country and one of its finest places to eat. Continue west along the coast to Bantry Bay, where the mountains meet the water in one of the great views in Ireland, and out to the Beara Peninsula before turning north to Kenmare. From there, Killarney and the lakes of Kerry, then west to the Dingle Peninsula — the most beautiful drive in Ireland, ending where the land runs out and the Atlantic begins.
Begin in Galway and drive north along the Atlantic coast — through Connemara, across the Burren, up through Mayo and Sligo to Donegal. This is Ireland at its most elemental: the bogs, the sea cliffs, the ruined abbeys, the light that changes every hour. End in the north, where the Giant's Causeway meets the sea in a landscape that looks like the beginning of the world.
Fly into Edinburgh, spend a day in the city, then head north into the Highlands. The road through Glencoe is one of the great drives in Europe — the scale of the landscape changes everything. Continue to Fort William, cross to Skye on the bridge, and spend several days on the island before returning south through Perthshire. A journey for those who want to understand why the Scots are so attached to their country.
Board the train at Paddington and let the landscape change around you — the Thames valley giving way to Wiltshire, then Somerset, then the first glimpse of the sea at Dawlish. Arrive in Penzance and spend the rest of the journey on foot: the coastal path, the fishing villages, the headlands where England runs out of land. One of the great train journeys, and one of the great walking destinations.
Belgium rewards the traveler who takes it seriously. Begin in Brussels — the Grand Place, the Art Nouveau streets, the museums that most visitors miss. Move to Ghent, whose medieval waterfront is among the finest in Europe, and end in Bruges, where the canals and belfry and the Flemish Primitives in the Groeningemuseum make a compelling case for staying longer than you planned.
The north of Spain is a different country from the south — greener, cooler, quieter, and in many ways more interesting. Begin in Bilbao, where the Guggenheim announced a city's reinvention, then move east to San Sebastián for the pintxos bars and the old quarter and the extraordinary bay. Cross into Cantabria for the Picos de Europa, the Romanesque churches, and the prehistoric cave paintings at Altamira — one of the great art experiences in Europe.
Asturias is the Spain that most visitors never find — a coast of dramatic cliffs and fishing villages, a hinterland of pre-Romanesque churches older than anything in the rest of the country, and the Picos de Europa rising sharply from the sea. The cider is poured from a height, the seafood is exceptional, and the roads are empty. A journey for travelers who have already done the obvious and are ready for something that will stay with them.
